Port Sheldon
After stating their entertainment and space requirements, the clients and I let our imagination take over. One of the goals was to create a landscape which included an intimate fire place area to watch the sun set on Lake Michigan. The fire place had to fit within the space, as well as be low enough so that it did not disrupt any views of the lake from within the home. The clients also requested that the landscape include a larger area in the backyard for entertaining as well as a spot for a hot tub. We kept in mind the feel and look of the home, and made some hardscape material selections that would compliment it. We started by adding a stairway to the existing deck to allow access to the lower brick patio. Stone steps lead you up to a mid-level sitting area where you can have an private conversation while enjoying a different vantage point of the landscape. Landscape lighting added the finishing touch. This project is in it's finishing stages and will have newer pictures updated when available.
